“To fail to prepare is to prepare to fail”

Rescuing a Vulnerable child/a youth from the ignored minority life situation to a batter hope for the future is a process that requires Agape four steps principles holistic care program.

1. RESCUE:

The social workers move, sometimes with volunteers, in Kampala slums/Villages and on streets to build relationship with the ignored impoverished stigmas children/ teenagers who beg and sleep on the streets, substance abuse drug addicts, gay victim children/teenagers and school dropout girls under 19 years of age in slums/villages involved in do bias behaviors in the community due to different difficulty life situation after assessing the individual’s needs/challenges we tailor the program accordingly.

2. REHABILITATE:

When a child is brought into agape’s program, he or she will live at Agape Transitional Rehabilitation centre (TRC) depending on his/her life story back ground need, determines who to stay at TRC or remain in the community but attending the program daily for an average of one year.
These children/teenagers often lack basic daily living social habits so at TRC we train them in such skills, spiritual enrichment, shelter, medical assessment, clothing, nutrition/feeding and counseling programs to further their self-esteem.
Each child in the Agape is given an opportunity to attend catch up class. Our motto is “giving hope for the future” through the education catch up class program we assess the academic/talent abilities of each child under rehabilitation and these are supported in format and informal schools based on the teachers recommendation. (Each time you reach out, you restore hope).

3. RECONSILE:

Agape work to reconcile a child/a teenager with their family/relatives if one lacks a responsible, loving family member then Agape pursues the option of foster care, we also promote the Family Empowerment/Community Preservation Program (FEPP) with each family through counseling, health training, parenting skills and business training; the (FEPP) equips families to provide stable home environment.

4. RESETTEE:

When a family is qualified to receive the child, its time for the end goal: Resettlement. Agape meets regularly with the family and local leaders to reassess their needs and encourage them towards self sustainability but Agape remains responsible for their part of tuition and in case where we’re unable to find a permanent home for an individual, Agape equips them with independent living skills once their nearing adulthood. These four steps are what Agape uses to do child rehabilitation among gay victims, street/slum kids, drug addicts kids and the neglected girl child vulnerable for substance abuse.

5. YOUTH REBUILDING PROGRAM :

This is also what Agape Mission intends to have in place to reach out to the many Vulnerable ignored minority groups among youths and children that are victims in different life challenging situation.

The YRP is the exit strategy for all children aged 16 years and above. The project is to run Employability and entrepreneurship programs among youths in the local communities, in urban slums, in schools and colleges that equip them with practical business and life skills for self-sustainability.

NB: Volunteer opportunity to Agape Mission in pastoral/ social activity services to the Vulnerable groups is open to all short/ long term volunteers interested able Men and Women above 18 years of Age.
